perianth lobes, adnate to perianth tube, those opposite the lobes usually
attached above the alternate ones, filaments short, anthers erect, dehiscence
longitudinal. Disk hypogynous. Carpels forming a superior 1 rarely 2-celled,
very rarely 4-5 celled ovary, ovules anatropous, solitary in each cell,
pendulous from near its apex. Fruits small berry, drupe or nut, rarely capsule.
Seeds solitary in each cell, pendulous or lateral.
