Description


Rhizome erect, stout. covered with large scales and bears thick fleshy stout roots. Stipes  and frond about 4 m tall. Fronds pinnate, pinnae many, simple, stalked, only upper ones fertile. Sterile pinnae oblique, bases somewhat unequal, cuneate to rounded, apex abruptly rounded to truncate. Texture coriaceous, green when young, yellowish at maturity, midrib grooved above and strongly raised below. Veins raised on the lower surface, not visible on the upper surface, Fertile lamina shape like the sterile but smaller, the uppermost sessile or even adnate to the stipe the terminal lamina similar to the upper lamina. Sori covered all over the lower surface of pinnae.
