Description


Twiners, stellately hairy or glabrous. Leaves petiolate, various shapes, entire, rarely dentate or lobed. Flowers umbelliform or capitate cymes, often terminal spikes or in scorpioid cymes. Bracts small, linear to lanceolate or foliaceous. Sepals equal or subequal. Corolla funnel-shaped or campanulate, blue, lilac or pink, rarely white with 5 distinct midpetaline bands, limb entire, 5-lobed. Stamens included, filiform, Ovary bilocular, style 1, stigmas 2, elliptic or oblong, complanate or globose. Fruit capsule, globose, 4 or 8-valved. Seeds smooth or minutely papillose.
