Description


Large, woody, climbing, evergreen shrubs. Leaves opposite, membranous, coriaceous with distinct nerves. Flowers in a terminal cyme, large bracteolate, white. Calyx 5-lobed, lobes large, sometimes foliaceous. Corolla funnel-shaped or campanulate. Stamens included at the summit of corolla tube, anthers sagittate, horny, united with the stigma, anther cells spured at the base. Disc deeply 5-lobed. Ovary bilocular with many ovules in each locule, style filiform, stigma oblong, fusiform. Follicles 2, connate, separating at maturity, woody. Seeds compressed, with a tuft of silky hairs.
