Description


Prostrate herbs, rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite, simple, entire, petiolate, stipules scarious or pellucid. Flowers solitary, subsessile in leaf axils, pentamerous, bracts and bracteoles absent. Calyx tube cylindric, short, barely exceeding subulate lobes. Corolla infundibular, fugacious, lobes ovate, acute. Anthers in lower half of corolla tube, subsessile, dorsifixed. Ovary 2-locular, placentae peltate, inserted on septum, styles bifid, branches erect, opposite to anthers. Fruits globose, indehiscent, with persistent calyx. Seeds many, small, angular.
