Description


Deciduous trees. Leaves entire, petiolate, stipulate, stipules entire, caducous. Flowers subsessile in capitate heads with inter-floral bracteoles, heads pedunculate, sheathed by a pair of stipules at first, terminating lateral shoots, solitary or grouped in open, leafy inflorescence. Flowers 5-merous. Calyx tube short or long, lobes obsolete to linear-spathulate. Corolla hypocrateriform, glabrous outside. Stamens inserted, filaments very short or absent, anthers exserted. Styles exserted, stigmas subglobose to mitriform, ovary 2-locular, ovules numerous. Fruits dry, dehiscent. Seeds numerous, with short wings.
