Description


Annual or perennial, erect or procumbent herbs. Leaves in a rosette or opposite, upper leaves often alternate, crenate-serrate to crenate-dentate. Flowers subsecund in terminal racemes. Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed. Corolla tube very short, limb bilabiate, lower lip larger, spreading, 3-lobed, upper lip erect, entire or 2-lobed. Stamens 4, didynamous, inserted in corolla tube, apically connivent. Ovary hairy or glabrous, styles glabrous, stigmas 2-lamellate. Capsules globose or compressed, included in cupular calyx. Seeds small, numerous.
