inserted in upper part of tube, anthers partially exserted. Ovary 2-loculed,
each locule with numerous ovules, placenta attached to upper third of septum,
styles with spindle-shaped stigmas, exserted, ovary of adjoining flowers of a
head fused with each other. Fruitlets of a head united into an indehiscent
syncarp, fruitlets crowned by persistent calyx lobes. Seeds numerous, very
small, not winged.
