Description


Erect herbs. Stem sparsely branched or simple. Leaves radical, a few reduced and alternate abobe. Capitula usually in glomerules at apex of branches, subtended by foliaceous bracts, homogamous, involucre oblong. Bracts 6-8, 2-seriate. Flowers pinkish-red. Corolla tubular, with 4-5 lobed limb. Anther base shortly sagittae. Stylar arms linear, puberulous. Cypsela 10-11 ribbed, cuneate below, pubescent, pappus of 5-6 bristles, rigid, shining, slender, becoming dilated and chaffy below.
