Flowers unisexual, perigone absent. Male flowers : stamens free, filaments
usually distinct, thecae opposite. Female flowers : ovary subglobose,
1-loculed, ovule solitary, subbasilar, anatropous, stigma discifiorm. Fruit an
ellipsoid berry, red when ripe. Seeds solitary, ellipsoid.
