Description


Climbing to erect shrubs, perennials or rarely annuals. Leaves opposite, 3-foliolate, with terminal leaflet usually forming a tendril. Flowers in axillary or terminal panicles, actinomorphic, bisexual. Sepals 4-5, caducous. Stamens many, staminodes 6-12, petaloid. Carpels with one ovule. Fruit an achene, linear, stipitate with persistent twisted feathery tails.
