Description


Woody climbers. Leaves not peltate. Inflorescence panicled, cauliflorous and composed of a raceme of cymes or supra-axillary and cymose. Male flowers: sepals 6, outer 3 narrower than inner 3, petals 6, with sides folded around the opposite stamens, stamens 6, free. Female flowers: sepals and petals as in male, staminodes 6, carpels 3, stigmas recurved. Drupes obovate, style-scar close to the base, endocarp dorsally bearing many transverse ridges, with an elongate curved depression on each lateral face. Seeds narrowly horseshoe-shaped.
