Description


Perennial herbs, with root-climbing or shortly creeping stems. Leaves numerous, leaf-form variable, petiolate. Inflorescence 1-several, peduncle shorter than petiole. Spathe constricted, tube convolute, persistent, limb cymbiform, erect to spreading.  Spadix sessile, much shorter than spathe, female zone cylindric to conoid, sterile zone constricted,  male zone clavate to cylindric. Flowers unisexual. Male flowers :  stamens 3-4, connate into synandrium, anthers linear, slits short. Female flowers : ovary 1-3-locular, ovules 1-2 per locule, anatropous, stylar region broad, stigma discoid, or 2-lobed. Seeds shiny, ovoid to ellipsoid.
