Description


Tuberous, very small to medium-sized herbs. Leaves entire, sagittate-hastate, 3-5-lobed, or pedatisect. Inflorescence solitary, peduncle shorter than petiole. Spathe constricted, tube short, convolute, persistent, limb ovate-oblong, or  lanceolate-linear, deciduous. Spadix exserted, appendage elongate, male and female zones remote, with neuters above female zone, sometimes below the male zone. Stamens 1-3, anthers subsessile, anther-cells prolonged, opening by slits or pores. Carpels forming 1-celled ovary, placentation basilar, ovules 1-2, erect, orthotropous, stigma sessile. Fruit 1-2 seeded berry, ovoid. Seeds globose, albumen copious.
