Spikelets 1-flowered, with bristle like rachilla extension. Glumes subulate to
linear-lanceolate, sometimes awned; lemmas 5-nerved, rounded on back, awned,
sometimes awnless; paleas 2-keeled. Stamens 3. Stigmas 2, separate, plumose,
naked at the base. Caryopsis oblong, usually adnate to lemma and palea,
concave, furrowed on inner side.
