Description


Herbaceous or woody climbers or trailers. Leaves pinnately trifoliolate. Flowers in clusters, arranged in short to long axillary nodose raceme-like inflorescence or sessile in axillary clusters. Calyx campanulate or tubular, 5-lobed, upper one free or joined to form bifid lip. Corolla blue or violet, standard with inflexed auricles at base. Stamens 9+1, upper stamens free, anthers uniform. Ovary sessile, many ovules, styles filiform or subulate, stigmas terminal, capitate. Pods linear-oblong, compressed, dehiscent, mostly septate between seeds, surface transversely furrowed.
