Description


Robust shrubby plants, stems short, woody, usually truncate. Leaves in basal rosettes, linear-lanceolate, often with spiny apex. Inflorescence of panicle with ascending branches. Flowers many, pedicellate with campanulate perianth, perianth free or shortly connate at base, ovate-oblong. Stamens 6, inserted on the torus. Ovary sessile or shortly stipitate, 3-locular, ovules many. Seeds black.
