Description


Suberect or climbing herbs. Leaves trifoliolate, stipules reflexed, stipels present, lanceolate. Inflorescence axillary, falsely racemose.  Calyx bilipped, upper entire, lower 3-lobed. Corolla white or coloured, the standard round, auriculate with 2 callosities or appendages on inner face, keels narrow, beak incurved at right angle. Stamens diadelphous, 9+1, or loosely monadelphous, anthers uniform, upper stamens free. Ovary styles laterally flattened, slightly curved at apex, hairy on inner side, stigmas terminal. Fruits pod, oblong, many-seeded, septa spongy between seeds. Seeds ovoid, compressed.
