Terrestrial, rhizomatous herbs. Stem 1 or several arising from same rhizome, unbranched, slender, reedlike. Leaves many, distichous, ovate to elliptic, base contracted into amplexicaul sheaths. Inflorescence an axillary raceme or panicle, shorter than leaves. Flowers scented, distichously arranged, greenish-white to yellow. Sepals and petals subequal, spreading. Petals slightly wider than sepals. Column erect, slender; anther inserted on dorsal side of column, oblong or ovate-oblong; pollinia 2, granular-farinaceous; caudicle slender; viscidium peltate; stigma with 2; rostellum prominent. Capsules strongly 6-ridged.
