Description


Terrestrial or rarely epiphytic, rhizomatous herbs. Stem erect, few to many leaved. Leaves widely spaced along stem, ovate-elliptic or lanceolate, oblique, coriaceous. Inflorescence terminal, densely many flowered spikes, secund or cylindric, glabrous or pubescent. Flowers resupinate. Sepals free, subsimilar, outer surface glabrous or pubescent; dorsal sepal concave, forming a hood over column; lateral sepals connivent with lip. Petals membranous, glabrous; lip connate with column at base, saccate. Column short, dilated; anther erect; pollinia 2, club-shaped, granular-farinaceous, 2-parted; viscidium ovate or oblong; rostellum deltoid; stigma lobes connate. Capsule erect, ovoid to ellipsoid.
