Description


Large, glabrous, evergreen shrubs or small evergreen trees. Leaves clustered towards apex of branches, alternate, margin entire or scarcely subcrenate. Inflorescence in axillary or terminal racemes, towards ends of branches. Flowers bisexual, pink or yellow, 5-merous, actinomorphic. Sepals  connate in an oblong calyx-tube. Petals 5, oblong. Stamens 5-10, borne on the inner wall of receptacle. Ovary solitary, inferior, ovules 2-5. Fruit an elliptic-oblong drupe, woody, longitudinally striate or nearly smooth, crowned by persistent calyx. Seed 1.
