Description


Shrubs or small trees, usually glabrous. Leaves short petioled, simple, alternate, glabrous or faintly pimpled on both surfaces, thinly coriaceous, exstipulate. Inflorescence axillary racemes, rachis slender. Flowers bisexual, hypogynous, glabrous; bracts broadly scaly, pale green. Perianth urceolate, limb 4-partite. Stamens 4, opposite to the perianth lobes, filaments flattened. Ovary superior, unilocular, ovule solitary, stigmas on a short style. Fruit a drupe, ellipsoid to obovoid, with a crustaceous stone. Seeds pendulous.
