Description


Woody vines to glabrous shrubs. Leaves alternate palmately 3-9 veined, margin entire. Inflorescence axillary, 1-3 flowered, fasciculate, cymose or umbellate. Flowers bisexual or unisexual, peduncles bracteate; bracts crowded at apex or base, form an involucre. Male flowers globose with flat receptacle; perianth 5; stamens as many as perianth lobes. Female flowers solitary or in fascicles, usually sessile; staminodes usually present, disc covering the ovary. Ovary inferior, ovules 3. Fruit a drupe. Seeds longitudinally furrowed, ruminate, 8-10 aristate rays on transverse section.
