Description


Trees. Leaves spirally arranged, 5-7 nerved at the base, entire, undulate or not. Inflorescence paniculate, terminal and axillary. Flowers hermaphrodite, 5-merous. Sepals united near the base, hairy outside, glabrous inside. Petals free, glabrous, not glandular at the base. Stamens free, anthers dorsifixed, subglobose, opening lengthwise, staminodes absent. Ovary 3-locular, each locule with 2-4 ovules, style subulate, stigmas pointed. Fruit a capsule, with 3 pairs of vertical wings, indehiscent.
