Description


Climbing shrubs or woody climbers. Stem cylindrical, usually solid and thickened at the nodes. Tendrils branched or biforked. Leaves simple or imparipinately compound, cordate, ovate, crenate, sometimes lobed, exstipulate. Inflorescence corymbose cymes, shorter than the leaves, peduncled. Flowers hermaphrodite, 5-merous. Calyx cupular. Corolla lobes free at apex. Stamens five, free. Disc cupular, adnate to the base of ovary. Ovary bi-locular. Fruits small, globose, usually 3-4 seeded.
