Description


Trees, dioecious or polygamo-dioecious. Leaves pinnate, usually pseudogammulate, leaflets opposite to sub-opposite, entire. Inflorescence generally axillary thyrses or spikes. Flowers articulated with pedicels or inflorescence, 4-6 merous. Calyx cup-shaped or tubular, entire or dentate. Petals 4-6, linear-oblong. Staminal tube slightly shorter than petals, anthers 4-10, alternating with lobes, oblong. Disk usually absent, sometimes annular or shallowly cup-shaped, surrounding ovary. Ovary 2-8 locular, style linear, stigma capitate. Capsules leathery, 1-2 seeded with 2-4 irregular valves. Seeds scutelliform to orange.
