Description


Shrubs. Leaves large, obovate-oblong, crenate-dentate. Inflorescence compound umbels, terminal on short lateral branches from near the summit of the stem. Flowers sessile or subsessile, pentamerous. Calyx lobes ovate, subacute. Corolla lobes long, lanceolate, strongly twisted to the right in bud. Stamens attached at the throat of the corolla, filaments very short, anthers ovoid, connectives dilated above the anthers and united into a membranous 5-toothed tube. Ovary globose, narrowed into a filiform style, stigmas punctiform, ovules several, on a globose sessile placenta. Fruit a globose berry. Seed 1, globose, albumen wrinkled, embryo transverse.
