Description


Unarmed deciduous trees. Leaves bipinnate, spiral, imparipinnate or paripinnate, leaflets opposite, petiolulate, stipules small, caducous. Inflorescence axillary, solitary, sometimes branched with spike or bottle-brush like racemes. Flowers bisexual, pedicellate, receptacle campanulate. Sepals 5, imbricate. Petals 5, subequal, imbricate, disc cupular, completely united with the hypanthium. Stamens 5, free, exserted, anthers versatile, introrse. Ovary stipitate, oblong or linear, ovules many, style short, stigma small, not sharply distinct form the ovary. Fruit a pod, elongate, erect, flattened, narrowly winged along the adaxial suture, 2-valved. Seeds compressed, slightly lens-shaped, smooth.
