Description


Usually semi-evergreen or deciduous, unarmed trees. Leaves bipinnately compound, leaflets small, numerous, opposite. Inflorescence axillary or terminal, simple racemose or panicled. Flowers showy, hermaphrodite. Calyx deeply 5-lobed. Petals 5, yellow, more or less equal. Stamens 10, free, filaments thickened and pilose at the base. Ovary sessile or substipitate, 3-8 ovuled. Fruit a pod, compressed with a firm wing-like extension on each suture, 1-6 seeded. Seeds lenticular, compressed.
