Description


Prostrate or semi-erect herbs. Leaves opposite, pari-pinnate, unequal. Flowers solitary, pseudo-axillary or terminal. Sepals 5, free. Petals 5, free, entire, imbricate, membranous. Stamens 10, all fertile, subequal, filaments filiform, anthers dorsifixed. Ovary hirsute, 5-12 lobed, 2-12 locular with solitary or 2-5 ovules in each locule, styles short, pyramidal or filiform, stigmas 5-12, decurrent. Fruits 5-angled, cocci 5-12, tubercled, spiny or winged. Seeds 2-5 in each coccus, separated by septa.
