Erect herbs, up to 1 m tall. Leaves simple, subsessile, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 2-8 × 1.0-1.2 cm, base obtuse, stipules subulate, 2-3 mm long. Inflorescence terminal racemes, 5-15 cm long; bracts lanceolate, 1.0-1.5 cm long; pedicels 4-5 mm long; bracteoles and as long as bracts. Calyx 1.5-2.0 cm long, bilabiate, divided nearly to base. Corolla pale yellow, standard elliptic, 1.0-1.5 × 0.8-1.0 cm, claw short, wings obovate-oblong, 8-13 × 4-5 mm, keels 11-14 × 5-6 mm, shortly outcurved about lower third, with straight, twisted beak, exceeding wings. Ovary subsessile, oblong, ovules 40. Fruits oblong, 1.8-2.0 × 0.5-0.7 cm, glabrous, black when mature. Seeds unequal-sided, 1.8-2.0 × 2.2-2.5 mm, smooth, shiny, yellowish-brown.
