Perennial herbs, with corms and stolons. Corm c 1.5 cm in diameter, stolons very slender. Leaves broadly ovate-cordate, or subcordate, peltate, margin entire, base rounded, dark green above with deep violet interveinal zone; petioles 17-25 cm long. Peduncle 4-8 cm long, shorter than petiole. Spathe 7-10 cm long, with two constrictions, tube 1.5 cm long, green. Spadix cylindric, 9.2-12.0 cm long. Male zone: 1.9-2.3 cm long, bearing 5.8-7.8 cm long appendix, male flowers 10-12 androus, stamens connate into synandrium, dehiscence by apical pore. Female zone: 1.0-1.2 cm long, ovary subglobose, 1-locular, ovules many, hemiorthotropous, placentation parietal, stigma sessile, disciform. Sterile zone 0.5-0.7 cm long. Flowering & fruiting: July-August. Ecology: Moist, shady places in hills and forests. Use: Cultivated as an ornamental plant. Distribution: Bandarban, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Khagrachari and Rangamati. State of occurrence: Occasional.
