A low, decumbent, shrub, 1.0-2.5 m tall, slender. Leaves elliptic or oblanceolate, 15-252.5-50 cm, finely acuminate, petiole, 2.5-14.5 cm long. Inflorescence a panicle or raceme, much longer than the leaves. Flowers 2-3-nate, pedicels articulate at the apex, perianth 1.8-2 cm long, slender, greenish-white, segments linear, valvate. Stamens 6, adnate to the perianth  base, filaments filiform, anthers versatile. Carpels 3, ovary 3-loculed, ovules  solitary at each locule, style filiform, stigma capitate. Fruit a berry, pisiform or 3-lobed, cherry red. Seeds globose. Flowering and fruiting : January-December. Ecology : Under the shades of forests, and gardens. Use : Ornamental.
