A terrestrial fern. Rhizome fleshy, bearing numerous fleshy roots. Stipe fleshy, green or grey in colour, about 20-30 cm long. Fronds consisting of tripartate lamina with an erect fertile spike at the middle. Lamina almost equally tri lateral cut in to lobes. Whole lamina about 12-30 cm long, Lobes 10-18 cm long and 2-4 cm broad, narrowed to a cunate  base and acuminate apex, edges entire or slightly irregulaly toothed. Texture thin. Veins close,oblique. Spike with crowed sessile sporangia and a small sterile lobe. Ecology: Plain land in forests in humus rich soil. Use: Young frond eaten raw or cooked.
